Although CIAC has so far denied member school players from participating in the USLacrosse Women's Division National Tournament, that decision is being appealed through a process spear-headed by the US Lacrosse CT Chapter. Contact Dee Stephan dee798@comcast.net for more information, especially if you have parents who wish to join a class action suit to change CIAC's decision. Non-CIAC schools may still participate in the Tournament, and thus tryouts for the Lower New England (LNE) teams have been scheduled despite CIAC's current stance on the issue. The Lower New England (LNE) region
of USLacrosse will send 5 teams to the USLacrosse Women's Division National
Tournament at Lehigh University during Memorial Day Weekend (May 29 & 30).
Each high-school coach may nominate up to six players of appropriate advanced
skill level to try out for the LNE teams. Players from the class of 2004
(seniors who will go to college in fall 2004) are not eligible to play on the
five LNE teams this year, but they are eligible for the new HS Senior Division
teams and can register directly with USLacrosse Women's Division for these
teams. Any seniors who will PG next year are still eligible to play on the LNE
teams. Both the high school coach and the player must be current members
of USLacrosse. Those memberships must be valid at least through June 30, 2004. |
