About WG2.8
The IFIP WG2.8 Working Group on Functional Programming consists of around 40 members, who meet every 13 months or so to discuss every aspect of functional programming. Our interests span Haskell, ML, Scheme, you name it, and range from type theory to garbage collection. Our meetings are informal and fun, without a fixed program or proceedings: an opportunity to discuss work in progress, and to start new collaborations.
Format
The meeting program is decided dynamically, and slots are flexible to allow discussions to run their course. Come prepared to speak for 15-30 minutes on your latest research. A punchy 15 minute talk that sparks a 30 minute discussion is appreciated much more than a one-hour monologue. We also welcome 5-minute talks, with a strict two slide limit: an excellent way to introduce a problem.
Location
This year the meeting will be held in Park City, Utah, a year-round resort in the Wasatch Mountains near Salt Lake City, Utah. The Treasure Mountain Inn at the top of historic Main Street will host our meeting, with easy access to restaurants, bars, art galleries, specialty shops, museums, theatre, and of course the mountains.

Activities
Although perhaps best known for its skiing, Park City is a great place to visit in the summer, with hiking, mountain biking, river rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, hot air balloons, fly fishing, horse-back riding, and other activities all within easy access. It is possible to do many of these activities in the late afternoon / early evening, after the lectures, but we will also arrange special activities for at least one afternoon devoted to an "excursion". At a later time we will email a survey with a list of potential group activities.

Accommodations
The rooms at Treasure Mountain Inn are spacious, luxurious, and inexpensive. There are three sizes to choose from:

Getting There
The Salt Lake City International Airport is a quick 35 minute drive or shuttle ride from Park City. There are several shuttle services from the airport, which are efficient and inexpensive -- $30-35 one way. We suggest using one of the following:

If you rent a car, the drive from the airport to Treasure Mountain Inn in Park City is fairly simple:
| Follow signs for "Airport Exit" and "Salt Lake City" via Interstate Route 80 East. | |
| In Salt Lake City (about 5 miles) continue following signs for Route 80 East toward "Cheyenne". | |
| Continue following 80 East through and around Salt Lake City for about 8 miles. | |
| At fork, continue on 80 East toward Cheyenne by bearing left (you will enter Parley's Canyon). | |
| Pass over Parley's Summit (about 12 more miles). | |
| Go another 5 miles to Exit 145, Kimball Junction / Park City / Route 224. | |
| Turn right at end of ramp, and follow 224 about 6 miles into Park City. | |
| In Park City, turn left on Deer Valley Road, following signs for "Historic Park City" and "Deer Valley". | |
| Go through stop light, then take the first right onto Main Street. | |
| Main St bends sharply to the left; at stop sign go straight. | |
| Continue following Main St all the way to the top, on the right -- 255 Main St. |
If you are attending PLDI the week before in Tucson, AZ, you might want to consider driving, and spending the weekend visiting some of the National Parks in Arizona, Colorado, and Utah. Feel free to contact the local arrangements personnel for suggestions on where to visit.
