Research Interests

Appearance modeling and rendering: capturing and modeling dynamic 3D shapes and their reflectance; image editing; capturing and transferring context-aware appearance histories of materials; image-guided geometry inference for 3-D model completion; reconstruction of integrated texture maps of large-scale structures.

Computational vision and image processing: representation and recognition of faces under variable illumination and viewpoint, and on estimating the geometry and surface reflectance of objects from image brightness. Applications include face and object recognition, surveillance, image-based rendering, and human-computer interfaces.

Other interests include: medical image analysis, psychophysics of lighting, and mobile robot navigation.
